Whitehead Campus Center Roof Replacement

Benchmark completed repairs and upgrades to the roof of the Whitehead Campus Center located on the campus of Haverford College. The building was constructed in 1993 and houses the school’s office of admissions and financial aid, bookstore, women’s center, the Cantor Fitzgerald Gallery, and a small grab’n go food outlet called the Coop. General roof deterioration caused by lightning strikes and faulty skylights had resulted in numerous leaks. The repairs required scaffolding over the majority of the building’s façade which provided the perfect opportunity to install a new snow rail system to aid in the roof’s performance. The project scope included the following work:

  • Repair of existing missing and damaged slate shingles
  • Repair of deteriorated and damaged metal flashings
  • Replacement of existing snow guards with new copper snow guards
  • Installation of a new brass snow rail system
  • Installation of a lightning protection system
  • Replacement of two (2) existing skylights with new units
