Behavioral Health & Psychiatric Urgent Care
This project transformed a long-vacant emergency department structure into a modern walk-in clinic dedicated to psychiatric and behavioral health care. The project encompassed comprehensive interior demolition and fit-out, resulting in specialized treatment zones, prep and recovery spaces, upgraded medical gas infrastructure, and new mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems. With construction divided between two contracts to satisfy different funding including RACP, and regulatory requirements, strict standards were maintained, including prevailing wage and U.S.-sourced materials.
Significant challenges, including flooring failures, design changes, and the addition of medical gas systems, were overcome through resequencing work, off-hours scheduling, and innovative approaches like early punch list walkthroughs and VDC scanning technology. Close coordination with stakeholders, quality assurance via daily walkthroughs, and the involvement of experienced subcontractors ensured project success. The resulting facility now delivers essential crisis care to the community.
