Increased demand for additional senior housing led Brethren Village and Benchmark to initially develop and design/build a 21-cottage expansion and an apartment complex which provides affordable housing to seniors. These apartments utilized HUD 202 funding.
In 2007, the first phase of cottages included two bedrooms, two bathrooms, living room, kitchen, laundry room, sun room, and a one or two car garage. In phase two, Brethren Village shifted to more upscale cottages with larger units and additional amenities including fireplaces and custom features.
In 2013, Benchmark constructed the third phase with a single cottage and six duplexes. Each cottage includes two bedrooms, two bathrooms, living room, kitchen, laundry room, garden room, two car garage, custom features, and an optional fireplace.
Each cottage involving custom features was a unique project requiring communication and coordination with owners, project managers and design consultants.
