Brethren Village Cottages

Increased demand for Independent Living cottages led Brethren Village to Benchmark Construction Company to fully develop and design/build an 18-cottage expansion on an open seven-acre parcel of the campus.

Each of the (18) 2,000 square foot cottages includes two bedrooms, a living room, two bathrooms, a kitchen, a laundry room, a sunroom, and a one or two car garage. Each cottage is part of a duplex unit giving every resident three sides of natural light while maintaining the economy of ganged units.

Site work for the project included construction of two streets and all the associated utilities required for the cottages. This also included construction of two utility huts nested within two separate duplexes to allow maintenance personnel to service each cottage without entering and disrupting the resident. In addition to the normal sewer, water, gas utilities the inter-campus communications utilities need to be run back to the existing campus as well as extended beyond this developed area for future use.
