Chester Valley Golf Club

The Chester Valley Golf Club, Malvern, Pennsylvania, has for years been host to the Bell Atlantic Classic, a stop on the PGA Seniors Golf Tour. But the Clubhouse, a renovated bank barn, lacked the elegance, functional design and convenience to enhance the course´s prestige and serve the full range of Professional Tour needs. Compared to other golf clubs that draw national television sports coverage, the CVGC facilities were small and inconveniently arranged for serving guests and facilitating championship play.
CVGC turned to Benchmark Construction to assist them in the transformation. But this was no small task and the schedule was the biggest obstacle. The proposed renovations and additions to turn the facility into a new 33,000 square foot Clubhouse had to be completed in six months – between October 1 and April 1. Unfortunately, this turned out to be one of the worst winters in area history. By micro-management of all available manpower and some out-of-the-ordinary and innovative construction techniques, the project was completed on-time. This elegant Clubhouse´s requirements tested Benchmark´s ingenuity, adaptability, creativity and ability to perform under unique pressure. Even under those constraints, quality never was compromised as evidenced by the project being awarded a National ABC Award for quality and numerous local Craftsmanship Awards.
