Benchmark Construction will break ground on Monday, February 8, 2010, on Lancaster’s only onsite Crematory, Chapel and Witnessing Room under one roof. The $650,000 project at Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home and Chapel, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, will allow Snyders to have complete control and provide greater peace of mind to the families of the deceased. The project includes 1800 sf of renovations to the existing facility to create a new crematorium and family area with an addition of 4000 sf of three new garage bays.

“For those families who choose cremation, we will be the only funeral home in Lancaster County with an on-site crematory, Chapel, and witnessing room all under one roof and at one facility,” according to Chad Snyder, Funeral Director and General Manager. “This gives families who choose cremation peace of mind and comfort knowing that our funeral home staff will work with them in every aspect, without having to utilize an off-site crematorium.” Snyder stated that he anticipates adding two additional employees to the professional staff.

Cary Zamilski will represent Benchmark as the Project Manager for this project. Cornerstone Design is the project architect. Construction will begin by the end of February with completion mid-June.
