LANCASTER GENERAL WOMEN AND BABIES HOSPITAL FUTURE GROWTH EXPANSION
Benchmark Construction Company of Brownstown has broken ground for the Women and Babies Hospital at the Lancaster General Health Campus to complete their new Focused Growth Expansion project. The project consists of two additions to the facility and is scheduled to be completed by April 2009.
The first addition is a 26,400 square foot, two story addition on the north side of the hospital facing Harrisburg Pike. The first floor on this new addition will contain 14 post partum rooms; including two to accommodate bariatric patients. This new addition will also have a new nursery with a total of 32 bassinettes and the associated support spaces. The second floor, 8,100 square foot addition will contain an expanded pharmacy, employee lactation room, mechanical spaces and a shell space for future growth..
The second addition will be constructed simultaneously with the North Addition and will include the infill of an existing courtyard between the existing triage area and the Women’s pavilion. This 5,200 square foot addition will house eight new isolettes for the Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICU) and have six new triage exam rooms with support spaces.
