Project Description: Morphy Auction House will expand by building an 18,000 square foot addition, which includes a new 4,000 square foot auction gallery, a 4,000 square foot display room, office space, café, a 6,000 square foot storage space and a 4,000 square foot staging area.
The new auction gallery is dedicated to hosting the live auctions and will have more than 140 theater-style seats. It features vaulted antique-style tin ceiling, marble floor, lighting and a custom designed telephone and auction stage. The café will be located next to the gallery and will be fitted with a large television screen, which will televise the auctions. The display room features state-of-the-art display cases, which will be designed to accommodate largers items, advertising and paintings. The facility will also house eight offices, a double photography studio and a conference room. Additional storage areas will accommodate upcoming sales with 6,000 square feet with wall-to-wall museum-grade shelving. Collections from all around the world will be housed in the 4,000 square foot staging area.
The new building’s roof has been designed for a solar-power system that will produce more electricity than would be needed to run the facility.
